Mission is proud of being New Zealand's oldest winery. We invite you to walk through time and history in a setting that embraces the old and new.

Mission Estate Cellar Door is housed in an elegantly restored seminary building and nestled in the Taradale hills, offering visitors sweeping views of the vineyards and the coast beyond.

View the photographs and images that document the extraordinary history of the Mission and the Missionaries who built it.  Then finish off with a tasting where our staff will guide you through a selection from our exclusive range of wines.

Cellar door opening hours

  • Mon to Sat: 9am – 5pm
    Sunday: 10am – 4.30pm

    (Final tasting will commence 30 minutes prior to closing)

  • During holidays and the visitor season between Labour Weekend to Easter, we can get very busy, especially between 11am – 3pm.  For the best experience, we recommending booking for tastings for groups of four or more, or alternatively come earlier or later in the day.

    Our tastings comprise of 6 seasonally selected wines from our more premium tiers, a talk on our history and our wines and a Mission Estate glass to take home, $10 per person.
